In this post i will be reviewing a mobile application and providing my opinions and experiences while utilizing the application.

The app I decided to review is the YouTube Music app for mobile devices. The YouTube music application allows you to play music from the YouTube website free with adds or if you want you can pay for a subscription which is $11.99 per month and has no adds and allows you to play music in the background or while the device is locked.  The application is available from most mobile stores and is free to download.

On the main screen of the application as indicted in figure 1.0. you get a custom set of playlists based on the different types of music you listen to and the songs you have liked.  You also get recommendations for other music based on the songs that you listen to frequently and have liked.  Once you have selected a song, artist, or playlist you want to listen to the song name and play bar will appear at the bottom of the screen.

You can expand the play bar to show the play bar to see the lyrics of the song you are currently listening to as well as view the playlist and select what songs you would like to listen to next or shuffle it up if you are not sure what it is you really want to listen to.

You are also able to select an explore option which will bring you to a screen that allows for you to look through all types of music and artists.  This way if you are feeling like you want to try something new or see what is trending you have easy access to wide variety of songs and artists.  While listening to songs you are able to either upvote or downvote the song based on whether you enjoyed it.  Songs you have upvoted are automatically added to your playlists so that you can listen to them easily in the future.  This also helps YouTube music provide suggestions for other songs you may like.

Overall I find the application relatively easy to use.  You can customize the playlists you want and add in only specific artists or songs which are available at the main screen of the application.  One recommendation I would make for this application is the ability to fully customize the layout of the main screen.  There is sometimes a lot of different suggestions and artists when you start scrolling that gets in the way.  It would be nice to have a home screen of just the items you want to view.  Another suggestion would be a way to put the application in sleep mode without having to close it.  I have had a couple instances where I had to stop my music to take a call and once the call was over the music automatically started up again when I did not notice and was not listening.  This caused my phone battery to drain while I was not using it.  A third recommendation I would make would be to have the ability to load the application without all the album graphics.  Sometimes the graphics take up a large portion of the screen and I find I end up having to scroll quite a bit to find what I want specifically.  If I could reduce it to just lists it would be more compact and easier to scroll through.
